Hot Fantasy Basketball Pickups - Week 10

Hey all you loyal followers!
We have launched a brand new website TopTeamFantasy in which we will be providing the same advice and analysis you have come to love, just from a bigger and better source!

The site is equipped with fourms (so you can all ask questions about your fantasy teams), as well as scoreboards, news and articles from our growing group of fantasy writers. We are hoping to continue serving you all from that new website!

Thanks!

Here are your hot pickups of the week for Week 10 of the fantasy basketball season.

For more pickups, see the Hot Fantasy Basketball Pickups for Week 9 as many of those guys are still available. Additionally, for more fantasy basketball content, check out the Well Rounded Fantasy Basketball Stat Stuffers.

Some guys that I have no issue dropping (owned in at least 50% of ESPN leagues) to pick up one of these hot free agents in a standard ten team league include: Dion Waiters, Luis Scola, Jason Terry, Raymond Felton (out 4-6 weeks), Mo Williams (out indefinitely), Ray Allen, Ramon Sessions.

Isaiah Thomas, SAC - Thomas started the year as the starting PG for the Kings only to be quickly replaced by Aaron Brooks. Somehow Keith Smart continued to stick by that decision despite it being clear to anyone what has played basketball before that Thomas gives the team it's best chance to win because of his ability to control the offense and his defense. Well thankfully, Thomas was reinstalled as the starter on Friday night and should be owned in all leagues. If he hasn't been picked up in your league, he likely will be soon after his monster game Sunday night with 27 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 threes and a steal while shooting 10 of 15 from the field. Thomas was a sleeper of mine in the preseason due to his success last year as the starter, and there's no reason he cant duplicate those stats now that he's back in the starting role.

Isaiah Thomas is the top pickup of the week after reclaiming the starting PG role for the Kings

Andre Drummond, DET - This rookie out of UConn started the season slowly, but has earned more minutes with his fine play. Over the last two weeks, Drummond has averaged 9.3 points, 10 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 blocks in almost 25 minutes and should continue to be effective in the Pistons' second unit. He will hurt your FT%, but if you need rebounds and blocks, he's a great option.

Kosta Koufos, DEN - In his 5th NBA season at only 23 years old, Koufos has finally started to deliver on the promise that made him a 1st-round pick out of Ohio State in 2008. Despite the dearth of big men on the Nuggets, Koufos has averaged 9.3 points, 7 rebounds, and almost 2 blocks in 14 December games while shooting 63% from the field. He isn't going to wow you with his production, but he will provide steady reliable rebounds and blocks while helping your FG%.

Kyle Korver, ATL - Korver is known for his three point shooting, but he's actually a lot more well rounded than one may think (he was mentioned as one of those well rounded stat stuffers in last week's article). Since returning on Dec 12th, he has been on fire, averaging 10.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.4 steals, 0.8 blocks and 2.6 threes on 45% shooting. Korver is a great pickup because in addition to his elite three point shooting he contributes in all eight categories and doesn't really hurt you anywhere.

Kyle Korver has been extremely valuable because of his elite three point shooting and well rounded fantasy game.

Deeper Pickups

Marcus Morris, HOU - Morris has been extremely effective over the last couple weeks, averaging almost 14 points, 4 rebounds and 2 threes on 51% shooting. He has benefited greatly from Patrick Patterson's absence, but despite Patterson's return, Morris still got 32 minutes of playing time and had one of his best games of the season scoring 24 points with 4 threes and 6 rebounds. Patterson will inevitably eat into Morris' minutes, but for the time being, Morris is a solid add.

Garrett Temple, WSH - Since A.J. Price broke his hand and John Wall remains out, the Wizards signed Temple and Shelvin Mack to help fill the PG position. Shelvin Mack got the first opportunity to start, but Temple quickly took over and has clearly taken the PG position by the throat averaging 10.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.5 steals, 0.5 blocks while averaging 38 minutes over his last two games. Temple has never really proven much in his NBA career so it's tough to expect this production to continue, but Temple is definitely worth a pickup as long as he's getting these kind of minutes.

Garrett Temple is a solid add as he's starting at PG for the Wizards

Zaza Pachulia, ATL - Josh Smith injured his hip on Thursday night and sat out Friday's game, and Zaza took full advantage of his start by scoring 17 points and grabbing 14 rebounds in 38 minutes. If Smith continues to miss time, Pachulia is a solid add because we've seen him been productive when given the playing time.
